Video: Heathrow’s Amazing ‘Cloud’ Flip-Dot Sculpture

Troika art and design studio have come up with an incredible animated sculpture for British Airways in Heathrow’s new Terminal 5. ‘Cloud’ is a five-meter long work of art that is covered in 4,638 flip-dots that can be individually programmed to create stunning visual effects. The flip-dots also generate the sound of old airport signs that is so reminiscent of travel.

Joystick Tongue: Boffins Turn Mouth Into Virtual Computer

Georgia Tech boffins have created a new computer interface that turns the tongue into a control mechanism much akin to a joystick. They envision a system where a disabled person’s mouth could be transformed into a virtual computer where teeth act as a keyboard that is controlled by a magnetic tongue.

MoVille Concept Car: The Water-Drop Shaped Omnidirectional Pod

The 2008 Peugeot Design Competition has produced yet another interesting concept car, this time in the shape of an omnidirectional pod that looks just like a water-drop. Called the MoVille, this single-seater pod designed by Woo-Ram Lee is compact in size and is powered by solar energy, providing motion to the huge spherical wheels via electromagnets.
