Fujitsu Concept Phone Breaks Into Two Separately Used Pieces

Fujitsu today unveiled a concept phone they have been working on with DoCoMo called the “Separate Keitai”. The phone can be split into two parts, allowing the screen to be held in one hand and the keyboard in the other. The separating magnetic hinge allows for greater flexibility such as being able to take a call on the keyboard half while looking something up on the screen half.

Ponoko have developed a great new laser-cutting service called Photomake that lets you transform your drawings into real objects without even leaving the house. The web-based service requires you to upload a clear photo of your drawing for the system to scan, the design will then be laser-cut from a material of your choosing and shipped to your door.

Video: SpaceX Falcon 1 – First Private Rocket To Reach Orbit.

SpaceX today made history with a successful launch of their Falcon 1 rocket. It has set a new record, becoming the first ever privately developed liquid fuel rocket to orbit the Earth. This was the company’s fourth attempt at reaching orbit. The last rocket in August failed with a payload of two NASA satellites and the ashes of 208 people, including those of Star Trek’s James “Scotty” Doohan.

Yves Rossy, aka Jet Man, set a new record today with his successful flight across the English Channel – strapped to a jet-powered wing. I knew you could do it Jet Man. The 22-mile trip lasted less than 13 minutes, but with cruising speeds of 125 mph and several hundred spectators in attendance, it must have been exhilerating.

Ferrari V4 Superbike Concept Is Awesome

Now this is a bike! The Ferrari V4 is a motorcycle concept developed by Israeli industrial designer Amir Glinik that borrows heavily from the sleek and contoured bodies of Ferrari supercars. The bike features drive-by-wire hand controls adapted from an F-16 jet fighter and a weatherproof touch-screen LCD on the fuel tank.

Toshiba Announces World’s First 250GB 1.8-Inch Hard Disk

Toshiba today announced a new world first for 1.8-inch drives with their MK2529GSG model which holds an impressive 250GB. The 5,400rpm drive uses a SATA interface with a 3Gbps data transfer rate, has a seek time of just 15ms and is a mere 8mm (0.31-inch) thin, making it ideal for ultra-portable laptops and portable media players.

Chrysler GEM Peapod: All-Electric Vehicle For 2009

Chrysler yesterday announced a new all-electric vehicle set for a 2009 release by its subsidiary GEM, which now stands for Green Eco Mobility. The car, called the Peapod, is designed with city driving in mind and will get 30 miles per charge with a top speed of 25 mph.

The new Google G1 phone went official today with a T-Mobile launch in New York and we have the first commercial for it below.
