Apple today unveiled their new MacBook Pro at a press event in Cupertino, California and like with the recent iPod chromium release, the rumors mostly turned out to be accurate.

The new MacBook Pro will be constructed from a solid 2.5 pound piece of aluminum which will have the necessary compartments cut out of it. The final structure after machining is only 0.5 pounds.

The new lappies will include an Nvidia GeForce 9400M which is a combined chipset and GPU which runs up to 5 times faster than Intel Integrated Graphics.

They will feature a multi-touch glass trackpad that is 39% larger in size and incorporates the button in the trackpad itself.

This latest version will have a full glass, instant-on LED display. To save on space, it will have a mini display port connector plus all the connectors will be on one side.

Apart from the Nvidia GeForce 9400M, there will also be a 9600GT version installed alongside that will act as a turbo mode.

The new MacBook Pro will be the thinnest ever at 0.95 inches and both the hard drive and the battery will be accessible from the back. It will come in two models. One for $1999 with a 15.4-inch display, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 3MB L2 Cache, 2GB 1066MHz DDR3 memory, 250GB hard drive, the two GeForces as well as a SuperDrive.

The other model is priced at $2499 with a boost to 2.53GHz 6MB L2 Cache, 4GB RAM, 512MB video memory and a bigger Hard Drive. To further Apple’s environmental efforts, the new MacBook Pro has achieved the EPEAT Gold Rating.
