Creative’s answer to the Flip Mino HD and DXG’s HD camcorder has officially gone on sale in the form of the Vado HD and at a price of only $200, offers up some stiff holiday competition for its rivals.

The Vado captures high-definition 720p video and includes 8GB of internal memory, which should get you about two hours of HD recording (twice that of the popular Flip HD). It feeds on a lithium-ion battery which Creative claims will get you two hours of recording and playback. The battery is rechargeable over USB, plus, it is removable, so you can arm yourself with spares should you require it.

Creative’s unit is apparently the first HD pocket camcorder to include an HDMI out port (and cable) to give you 1080i output to an HDTV – if you’re lucky enough to have one. It also includes a 2x zoom, a fold out USB arm for convenient data transfer to your computer and a 2-inch screen, which appears to be the largest so far in this type of device.
