An innovative, reusable spaceplane called the Skylon is set to hit the skies within 10 years, aiming to make payload delivery and perhaps even passenger space travel easier and more affordable. The rocket-plane would take-off and land on a traditional runway and use a combination of on-board hydrogen and oxygen taken from the atmosphere to provide thrust.

Here’s a gadget that screams both trouble for unfaithful partners and excitement for amateur spies the world over. Called the Driving Activity Reporter, it monitors and logs all movement of a vehicle through its 16-channel GPS receiver. It can be attached covertly to the fuel tank (or any metal part) with the built-in magnet and all data is recorded to flash memory for rapid analysis via USB.

A team of MIT undergrads have come up with an interesting prototype called GenShock, which enables cars and trucks to recover energy lost through the suspension. The device contains a hydraulic system that forces fluid through a turbine when compressed. Energy is then produced by a generator connected to the turbine, ready to be passed to the vehicle’s batteries – much like how regenerative braking works in electric cars.
