If you were fascinated by the WildCharge wireless charging kits we saw recently, but were skeptical of the start-up’s claims, now might be the time to jump on board. Portable power heavyweight, Duracell, have announced what seems to be a re-branded version called Duracell myGrid, that is sure to take the product mainstream.

The myGrid system offers wireless charging of gadgets and most cellphones through the use of Power Clips and Power Sleeves – which allow a current to pass through to the battery when placed on the myGrid charge pad. The kit eliminates the need for bulky chargers for compatible gadgets and simplifies the charging process.

The system includes the Duracell myGrid Cellphone Starter Kit which hooks you up with a Charge Pad and Power Clip for $84.99. Model-specific adapters are available also for the iPod Touch, BlackBerry Pearl and BlackBerry Curve for $36.49, while a miniUSB version will hook-up other gadgets for the same price.

The Duracell myGrid wireless charging system is available now on pre-order from Amazon.com and will begin shipping on October 12. A Power Sleeve specifically for the iPhone 3G/3GS will be available shortly.
