Hi,

Need comparison about these two hosting services.

I’m interested in those two hosting companies, need some information from you guys.
It would be better as fast as possible, because at the moment planning to develop little web service and few blogs.

Found Host1Plus and GoDaddy offers its hosting.
Some time ago I had account on dreamhost, but I don’t like it.

My friend using JustHost, but now its services going bad and bad… So please don’t offer it 🙂

Please share your opinions and your own experience.

@ itmoxodoelo

Can’t say I’ve used hosting from either GoDaddy or Host1Plus.

I can however strongly recommend HostGator and use it right here to host Mark’s Technology News. I have been using them for the past 3 months and have not experienced a single moment of downtime (I have an alert service set up) so they’re true to their word (unlike others) about their uptime. Their support goes above and beyond to help you out and I was blown away by their online help and tutorials that document every aspect of your hosting – including complicated setups.

Apart from HostGator, I would say WestHost might be worth a look – Joost de Valk swears by them and I was also considering BlueHost after hearing good things.

Hope this helps.

I am trying to find a portable/mobile combination printer AND SCANNER!

It doesn’t have to be battery operated, because I always have a place to plug in. Just easy to pack/unpack and setup and compact/light enough for me to carry around with my laptop.

I have seen many printers and I have seen many scanners but no portable combination units.

Thanks!

Hi Brooke,

I’ve found an ultra-portable color ink-jet printer with scanner attachment on Amazon that sounds perfect for what you’re looking for. Its called the Canon BJC-55 and it’s a mobile printer/scanner about the size of a man’s shoe.

Alternatively, there’s the Greta GSM Fax and Printer designed for mobile office use by truckers and executives. It can also scan and comes in a cool red color.

Hope this helps,
Mark.

Hi Mark,

Have you heard of a gadget called the Radio Bookmark? I’m thinking about giving them as holiday gifts. Any insight you can provide would be helpful.

Thanks,
s

Hi Samantha,

I hadn’t heard of the Radio Bookmark, no – but I’ve just been reading the product page and it sounds like a great idea. A fairly simple idea too. Since the device only records a time-stamp bookmark to match with a database of on-air content on your computer, there’s really not much to go wrong. You can only choose up to two radio stations to use the device with however, which might be a bit limiting. Also, remembering which station belongs to which of the two buttons might require messing about with a marker pen or labeler.

If you know people who listen to a lot of public radio and know their way around a computer, I’d say go for it. Great gift idea.
Cheers,
Mark.

Mark, Can the ION’S film 2SD negative scanner work with film processed before the C41 process?
I have another scanner that will only work with color slides or C41 processed black and white film. I have several B&W negatives to transfer to
CD’s or sd cards.

Thanks, Vince

@ Vince

I contacted Firebox (who stock the ION Film 2 SD Scanner) regarding your question and they were able to ask the manufacturer directly. Their response was the following:

“I’ve contacted the supplier about the Film2SD Negative Scanner and he said that it will take “any standard slide in a standard slide holder”. He acknowledged that this was a little ambiguous, however, said that there’s no reason why it wouldn’t work with film processed and C41 processed slides.”

Hope this helps.
Mark.

I am looking for a PDA to replace my Palm Tungsten E2. I have tried many Palm Tungsten E2 & T/X’s, but they seem to have serious problems with the touch screen alignment, errors, etc. I could consider a SmartPhone, but will only use it as a PDA because I’m disabled & can’t afford (or justify) a pricey data plan. I have many yrs. of info. that I would need to transfer from the Tungsten E2 to the new PDA. (I tried an Ipod, & tried borrowing my mom’s Outlook to transfer my info. but the fields were different so not everything was coming through. Also it didn’t have software like the Palm Desktop, where your iTouch cal., contacts, photos, … can be accessed from one place on your computer.)

I’d really appreciate any help you can give me on this!!

Bobbi

Hi Bobbi, have you tried using a BlackBerry before? You’ll get the PDA functions you’re after, plus after doing a bit of searching – people are reporting seamless data transfer between the Palm Tungsten E2 you’re using and the BlackBerry Curve 8330 via Outlook – you’ll just have to ask if you can borrow it again 😉

Hope this helps,
Mark.
