Casio Oceanus Solar Atomic Watch – A World First

The Casio Oceanus OCWM800TBA-1A is the world’s first solar powered atomic chronograph.

It uses indoor light sources as well as solar energy to power the battery, so you don’t have to be outside for it to function.

Light enters the watch through the sapphire crystal face and is captured by sensors on the watch dial which is fed to a solar cell beneath the dial. A current is created and stored in the battery which makes for a maintenance free power solution that even works under artificial light.

The Oceanus features Multi-Band 5 Atomic timekeeping which makes it reliable and precise, receiving time calibration radio signals from UK, US, Japan and Germany.

The watch includes an alarm clock, world time, a reverse countdown timer with second hand and 100M water resistance.

The wristband is made of lightweight titanium and features a face made of spherical sapphire crystal (one of the hardest substances on earth) to provide durable scratch resistance. To reduce glare, the face also has an added non-reflective coating.

“It is important for us to keep our timepieces technologically advanced without sacrificing any elegance,” said Stephen Schmidt, Oceanus Sales’ VP. “The Oceanus collection continues to reach new heights with the introduction of the Super Chronograph and we have great confidence that consumers will truly be impressed with our innovations.”

The suggested retail price is $900.
