Sony VAIO X: World’s Lightest Notebook Launches With Carbon Fiber Body

Sony yesterday announced their new VAIO X Series Notebooks which the company claims are the world’s lightest, thanks to a carbon-fiber body construction. The 1.6-pound featherweight notebook is a mere 0.2-pounds heavier than Sony’s diminutive VAIO P netbook and is ultra-thin too, measuring a tiny 0.55-inches thick across its entire length.

Dell Latitude E6400 XFR Launches With Ballistic Armor Casing

The giant PC manufacturer Dell today announced a new rugged laptop called the Latitude E6400 XFR, which features Ballistic Armor that Dell claims doubles the impact protection of traditional magnesium alloy cases. The XFR is well sealed too, being able to withstand dust, salt fog and even direct blasts of pressurized water (video below).

Asus Unveils Dual-Panel Touchscreen “FlipBook” PC

Asus is showing off a “Community Designed PC” concept at CeBIT 2009, that incorporates two touchscreen panels in a “FlipBook” style design. The dual-panel notebook aims to offer a more flexible and intuitive working space by incorporating a virtual touchpad and keyboard, as well as gesture control and handwriting recognition.
