LG today demonstrated their latest development in cellphone chip technology, based on the 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) standard. They managed to achieve a whopping 60Mbps download / 20Mbps upload speed in the demo, around half of the technology’s theoretical limits of 100Mbps down and 50Mbps up. Monday, 6 October 2008 I’m grateful I haven’t run into this in the dark! A control electrician called Woody has used his talents to put together an altogether terrifying robotic pumpkin. The creature rapidly grows from a mere pumpkin on the ground to a man-like monster within seconds, its eyes glowing red to the accompaniment of deathly gut-churning growls. Monday, 9 June 2008 The next generation iPhone has just been announced at Apple’s WWDC. The new phone features the same gorgeous 3.5-inch display but now has a black back and is thinner at the edges. It has a flush headphone jack and improved audio. 2G talk time now 10 hours – up from 8. 3G talk time is an industry-leading 5 hours There will also be a white 16GB model priced at $299. The iPhone started at $599 for 8GB and now sells for $399. The new 3G iPhone will be $199 in an effort by Apple to make it even more affordable. There is a new ad to accompany the new iPhone – it’s a spy theme. A special thanks to the team at Engadget who provided the pictures and info from the event. Hope you enjoyed yourselves guys. The chip is called the HD Gigabrid JCY0237 and is destined for video cameras and video recording devices. The chip will simultaneously record video in the two different codecs MPEG-2 and MPEG-4. MPEG-4 is supposedly the global multimedia standard and delivers professional-quality audio and video over vast ranges of bandwidth. To upload content to YouTube, it must be encoded in this format. Apparently the chip looks set to appear in JVC’s Everio product line soon. Sources: Monday, 9 June 2008
The G50V sports a 15.6-inch display, Intel’s Centrino 2 platform, a pair of 320GB SATA drives, support for up to 4GB DDR2 RAM, 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9700M GT graphics card and a tough keyboard built for gamers. Possibly the most exciting feature of the G50V is the 3D display, a feature that can be toggled on or off. Like the 3D televisions we’re starting to see, you don’t need special glasses to pull off the effect – you do need to look fairly straight ahead however. The larger G71V has a 17-inch display and shares the same platform and GPU as its sibling. It differs by supporting a pair of 500GB drives, CPU overclocking and DDR3 memory. Both models should be released shortly after the official release of Intel’s Centrino 2 platform. The device features 1GB or 2GB of internal memory and includes a USB port for accessing it. It uses a 1.3 Megapixel CMOS sensor which will capture pictures at up to 1280×1024. The camera is built into one side of the frame and is barely noticeable, looking like a pin for the arm. They should have added a fake lens to the opposite side though to help conceal the camera through symmetry. Music can be either MP3 or WMA and a remote control is included. They are looking like they might be stiff competition for Apple’s MacBook Air. Here are the details according to images of early spec charts. General Specifications ThinkPad SL Series: ThinkPad T Series: ThinkPad R Series: Sources: Sunday, 8 June 2008 We have some more photos and info regarding the PhotoFast CR-3100 and CR-5400 thanks to tipster Hitori Futari, who visited the PhotoFast booth at Computex. The devices enable the use of up to 16GB (CR-5400) and 32GB (CR-3100) of memory in the Sony PSP and were introduced at Computex 2008 in Taipei which ended yesterday. The CR-3100 is planned to be released mid-July, according to Futari. Apparently the adapter is still undergoing design changes and testing and could look a little different upon release. Futari said there is a thin umbilical cable that cannot be seen in the photos and has not been implemented into the prototype. The cable connects the mounted adapter with the memory slot on a PSP. According to a contact he made at the event, PhotoFast’s up-to-16GB dual-slot reader, the CR-5400, may make the market in Japan as early as the end of June, Futari was able to get a hold of PhotoFast’s press kit which featured the photos shown below. Thanks for the tip Futari. Sources: Related Articles Friday, 6 June 2008
The device has been introduced at Computex in Taiwan alongside another product that can provide up to 16GB of storage called the CR-5400. The devices allow you to combine SDHC memory cards to provide extra storage space. The CR-5400 can combine two 8GB cards totaling 16GB while the CR-3100 can combine four 8GB cards, effectively quadrupling your storage to 32GB. PhotoFast is not stopping there either. Apparently they plan to increase the maximum storage to 64GB. Sources: Related Articles: | Subscribe Stay up to date! Or, grab your updates via email.
