Fujitsu yesterday announced two new 500GB 2.5″ hard disk drives, the MJA2BH and the MJA2CH, which feature the industry’s best energy-efficiency levels. This is impressive enough, but buried in Fujitsu’s Press Release is a far more interesting feature…the ability of the latter drive to completely erase its entire 500GB capacity in under one second. Fujitsu today unveiled a concept phone they have been working on with DoCoMo called the “Separate Keitai”. The phone can be split into two parts, allowing the screen to be held in one hand and the keyboard in the other. The separating magnetic hinge allows for greater flexibility such as being able to take a call on the keyboard half while looking something up on the screen half. Wednesday, 18 June 2008
Fujitsu has launched their new F706i waterproof phone in Japan, poolside of course. The handset features a front with a new LED panel to give you easy access to important info such as the time while displaying decorative patterns with 50 colors. It has a unique 2 in 1 option that allows you to use two phone numbers on the one handset, a feature that could be very useful for many people. The F706i has a 2.7″ screen, a 2 megapixel camera with image stabilizer plus a TV tuner all built into a 16.9mm slim body. The phone also has a built-in web browser, HSDPA support as well as 3G WorldRing, which means it can be used overseas. Apple, listen up. There are some great features here that would make a fantastic addition to the 3G iPhone Source: Thursday, 15 May 2008
E-paper is a promising technology that is heading towards becoming a very versatile medium that is portable, flexible, lightweight and uses very little power. Eye strain is hardly an issue with e-paper as it uses reflected light instead of back-lighting like LCD or CRT displays. It uses about 1/100th the power of plasma and LCD displays when the image is changed. Power is only used to change the display content, which makes e-paper very energy-efficient. The image is preserved even when the power is off. It does not flicker and can withstand large temperature variances making it suitable for outdoor use or harsh environments. Some of the proposed uses for this technology include cash cards or commuter passes that display their remaining value, wraparound posters, billboards that don’t need changing and pricing signs that can be updated automatically. The possibilities are endless. Photo credit: digitimes.com |
