Toyota MR2 Sports Car To Return With Prius Hybrid Tech

Toyota are apparently developing a new version of their great little MR2 sports car, that ended production back in 2007. This comeback model will be in the form of a compact coupe, rather than the roadster style of its predecessor and will feature a specially developed version of the hybrid powertrain from Toyota’s Prius.

Shelby’s Ultimate Aero EV To Be Fastest Electric Production Car

Shelby Super Cars (SSC) have announced plans to introduce an EV version of their Ultimate Aero sports car, which they claim will be the world’s fastest electric production car. The Ultimate Aero EV will also feature a 10-minute recharge time over a US standard 110 volt wall socket, which will get a range as high as 200 miles between charges.

Fujitsu Siemens Announce “Zero-Watt” PC: The Esprimo Green

Fujitsu Siemens have today announced what they are calling a zero-watt PC, which consumes no energy when in standby mode. The computer, called the Esprimo Green, can still be managed by technicians whilst in its zero-power sleep mode, potentially saving big money on energy costs in large IT departments.

Japan is experimenting with an interesting method of generating clean and inexpensive electricity. They are essentially harnessing the power of pedestrian footfalls with a piezoelectric electronic mat, which is capable of generating an impressive 0.5W every time someone weighing around 60kg (132lbs) steps on it.

Kingston TTX01: World’s First Electric Superbike Does 125mph

Kingston will unveil the world’s first electric superbike this week at the 2008 NEC Motorcycle Show in Birmingham, England. Their TTX01 motorcycle is capable of 125mph (200km/h) and can apparently recharge in as little as 15 minutes via a high-current charger.
