They say desperate times call for desperate measures, but Nokia getting into the firearms business? Unlikely. Still, this Cellgun is an amusing look at what may emerge if Nokia and Glock ever forged a partnership. I’m picturing hitmen drooling over its multifunctional convenience – marveling at the ability to organize a contract hit and carry it out all with one device. Genious.

Nokia seems to have taken a leaf out of Samsung’s book, with its assembly of a ‘Re-made’ phone constructed largely from trash.
The phone was made using old PET bottles, soda cans and car tires to show how the process of Upcycling can be used to create new, environmentally-friendly products.
Nokia commented that “many small actions when multiplied by large numbers, can indeed change the world. We can see the result of the many small actions here.”
Apparently, 44 of the 112 known elements are used in each typical mobile phone. Nokia is seeking to reduce the number and the toxicity of the materials to produce more sustainable handsets.
The ‘Remade’ has a metal casing made from soda cans, gaskets and keypad backing made from car tires and plastic components made from reused PET bottles.
Hopefully we’ll see something like this reach production soon.

Nokia has made official its new E71 smartphone, a sleek, elegant replacement for the E61i.
This new QWERTY smartphone is only 10mm thick and much like the new E66, it features a 3.2 megapixel camera on the back, combined with a front-facing camera for video calls.
The E71 features a 2.36-inch QVGA screen and has the same new function to switch between business and personal profiles as the E66.
The smartphone includes support for POP/IMAP accounts, push email, Bluetooth 2.0, HSDPA, WiFi and GPS.
The battery will get you 20 days of standby, 4.5 hours of 3G talk or 10.5 hours of GSM talk.
The screen is noticeably smaller than the previous E61i (2.36-inch vs. 2.8-inch) but the new model is more compact in all dimensions and is considerably lighter. It comes in at 4.4-inches tall (vs. 4.6), 2.2-inches wide (vs. 2.7) and 0.4-inch deep (vs. 0.5). It weighs 4.4 ounces (vs. 5.3).
The E71 will cost around $500 for an unlocked handset. There are no carrier subsidies as yet. Like the E66, the E71 will be available around Q3 of this year and come in either grey or white with metallic accents.

Nokia has officially announced that the E66 S60 slider will be making its way to the U.S. around Q3 of this year.
The phone will be compatible with multiple networks including EDGE, GSM, HSDPA and WCDMA.
The handset is only 13.6mm thick and will feature not only a 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera on the rear, but also a camera on the front for making video calls.
It will include a 2.4-inch QVGA screen as well as A-GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth (with A2DP) and 3.6mbps web browsing.
You can switch to landscape mode by turning the handset on its side, much like the accelerometer feature on Apple’s iPhone, plus there is a new feature that allows you to easily switch between your personal and business profiles.
The battery will last for 14 days on standby and give you 3.5 hours of talk time on 3G or 7.5 hours on GSM.
The internal memory is limited, only 110MB, but that can be expanded with a microSD card up to 8GB.
The E66 uses the third edition of the S60 platform which runs on the Symbian OS.
The handset will cost “under $500″ according to Nokia and will be available in two colours, either white or grey with steel accents.
