Flybook V5 Mini-Notebook Now In America

The Flybook V5 luxury notebook has just been launched in America after a successful run in Europe. This unique and feature packed lappie is priced at MacBook Air levels but offers more features and higher specs.

The Flybook can be used as a tablet PC and includes a swivel touch screen for this purpose. Many other tablets force users to use a stylus as they can’t properly track human touch.

It features an Intel Core 2 Duo Ultra Low Voltage (ULV) processor with 2GB Memory and an 80GB HDD. It has a 1024 x 600 resolution WXGA TFT LCD display with a built-in 1.3 Megapixel camera.

The notebook includes a finger-print scanner for user authentication and can be used with HSDPA/EDGE/UMTS/GPRS and GSM wireless networks. It has Bluetooth and WLAN as well as two USB 2.0 ports.

The battery is a swappable 6-cell Lithium-Ion and when fitted, brings the total weight of the system to just 1200g.

Dimensions are 235 x 163 x 30mm and for those who don’t fancy the bright gold casing – black, silver and pink models are also available. With a price tag of around $3000, you can be sure it’s not looking to compete with low-cost notebooks like the Eee PC.

Flybook says they are already working on a new version that will be seen in late November. Its main feature being a screen that can be read in bright daylight.
