Kohler C3 Toilet Seat Bidet: High-Tech Alternative To Toilet Tissue

The high-tech toilet technology common in Japan is now set to make a splash in the West thanks to a company called Kohler. Their bidet technology is built into a simple seat which can be attached to your existing commode, providing a temperature controlled, aromatic cleansing that almost eliminates the need for toilet tissue.

This ingenious device is fully customizable to suit your shape and preferences and has two programmable presets to accommodate both yourself and your partner (see video below).

It’s numerous features include a front and back spray, deodorizing fan, blower (to dry you off), blue LED lights (so you don’t need to turn on a light at night) and heated seat (for those cold mornings). The position of the spray nozzle can be finely-tuned to hit you right on target and can be set to pulsate, oscillate or spray a simple gush of water.

All the functions are controlled via a wireless remote, which comes with a magnetic holder to mount it to the wall. For those concerned about the bidet’s greenness, you’ll be pleased to know that the in-line heater warms the water on an as-needed basis and I would say the large reduction in toilet tissue would more than offset its power usage. Tissue isn’t eliminated completely, however, as Kohler recommends doing a quick check with a small amount when you’re done.

The unit connects to your toilet’s existing water pipe but does require a power outlet nearby. A visit from an electrician might be in order before installing one (unless you’re handy with extension leads). If you’re in the States, head on over to DPO where you can pick one up for $950.
