A company called Ultra Motor have unveiled their A2B electric bike that is capable of traveling up to 20mph for 20 miles on a single charge. An extra battery can be purchased to extend the range to 40 miles and the speed can be increased by adding pedal power to the mix.
The A2B is ideal for city dwellers (like me, who wants one btw) and features full mountain bike suspension and an oversized seat for a little comfort on them mean streets. They say it is state-of-the-art, but I’d like to see a new silver-zinc battery powering this puppy before I’ll accept such a claim.
The motor is apparently a highly-efficient proprietary design, powered by lithium-ion batteries stored in the frame. The idea is that you get it home at the end of the day and plug it in as you would your laptop.
The bike will be available in the U.S. in September nationwide with saddlebags and baskets available separately (for all those gadgets you’ll be out buying). Pricing has not yet been announced.
