There are quite a number of bags around these days sporting solar panels and charging your gadgets. The Voltaic Generator, however, is a different breed. Though it may look fairly ordinary, it comes equipped with a high-performance 15W photovoltaic panel that will charge your laptop in around five hours.
The bag is made of recycled PET from soda bottles and will charge a huge list of gadgets from phones to iPods to cameras and of course, your laptop via an abundance of connectors for different brands.
The charge doesn’t come direct from the panels, but rather through a built-in battery that is comparable in capacity to a regular notebook battery. That internal cell can be recharged via an optional AC travel charger also, perhaps defeating the purpose of the panels, but still serving as a backup, on-the-go power source for those days you don’t get much sun.
The only thing I can see wrong with the bag is the price. $500. That’s right…around the cost of many netbooks that are becoming popular these days. I understand that 15W panels are expensive, but whoa! Great product though. Maybe in the future.
