Panasonic today introduced their new Lumix DMC-FP8 point-and-shoot digicam which features a 12.1-megapixel resolution, a 4.6x optical zoom lens and a rapid start-up time of just 0.95 seconds.
The DMC-FP8 incorporates some neat folding optics, squeezing in a quality 28mm wide-angle Leica DC lens into the camera’s 3.8″ (9.65cm) x 2.4″ (6.1cm) x 0.8″ (2.03cm) frame. Other highlights include a high-speed auto-focus (AF) system that can get things nice and sharp within 0.3 seconds – very useful for action shots where AF lag can mean the difference between getting the shot and not.
The Lumix FP8 includes a 2.7-inch LCD, an HD movie capture mode (1280×720 at 30fps), saves to SD and SDHC memory cards and is light on the battery – getting you as many as 380 shots before requiring a recharge.
Available now on pre-order from Amazon.com, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FP8 will set you back $299.95 in your choice of red, black or silver. Shipping is expected to begin in September.
