Asus has revealed two new gaming laptops, the G50V and the G71V. They were shown at Computex but I guess the frenzy surrounding the Eee PC served as a distraction.
The G50V sports a 15.6-inch display, Intel’s Centrino 2 platform, a pair of 320GB SATA drives, support for up to 4GB DDR2 RAM, 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9700M GT graphics card and a tough keyboard built for gamers.
Possibly the most exciting feature of the G50V is the 3D display, a feature that can be toggled on or off. Like the 3D televisions we’re starting to see, you don’t need special glasses to pull off the effect – you do need to look fairly straight ahead however.
The larger G71V has a 17-inch display and shares the same platform and GPU as its sibling. It differs by supporting a pair of 500GB drives, CPU overclocking and DDR3 memory.
Both models should be released shortly after the official release of Intel’s Centrino 2 platform.
