New Canon EOS 1000D / Rebel XS / Kiss F Digital SLR

Canon today announced a new entry-level digital SLR, called the EOS 1000D / Rebel XS / Kiss F – depending on where you live. It has the lightest body of all previous EOS cameras and incorporates many top end features such as Live View mode and a DIGIC III image processor.

You can buy ‘body only’ or with a Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS lens with 4 stop image stabilisation.

“The EOS 1000D is a small camera with a big idea: the supreme adaptability and image quality of the EOS system, in an accessible, affordable package,” said Mogens Jensen, Head of Canon’s Consumer Imaging Europe. “For anyone ready to take the next step in creative photography, it offers the perfect entry point to the world of D-SLR.”

The Canon EOS 1000D features a 10.1 Megapixel CMOS sensor, 7-point wide-area AF system with f/5.6 cross-type centre point, 2.5” LCD with Live View, EOS Integrated Cleaning System, DIGIC III image processor, compact and lightweight body (only 450g) and professional RAW processing software.

It is fully compatible with all Canon EF and EF-S camera lenses as well as EX-series Speedlites and will accept both SD and SDHC memory cards.
