Sony has announced its new HDR-CX12 – AVCHD powered camcorder which is the first to feature their new Smile Shutter technology and is priced at just $900.
The camcorder features a 10 megapixel ClearVid 1/3.13-inch CMOS sensor which can capture AVCHD video at 1920 x 1080 resolution. It also comes with a 2.7-inch LCD, BIONZ image processing, a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T 12x optical zoom lens and a 5.1 surround sound mic.
It relies upon Sony’s Memory Stick Pro Duo for storage and includes a 4GB stick to get you started. You can expect to get just under two hours of HD recording on a 16GB card.
The new Smile Shutter technology enables you to simultaneously record video a capture smiling photos. The technology automatically takes a photo when your subject is smiling without having to switch modes.
The camcorder will be available from tomorrow online, or August in stores.
