Chinese company, Harbin Smart Special Aerocraft, has developed a flying saucer-like craft designed for geological surveys and aerial photography.
Worried about being abducted? Don’t be. These saucers are too weak to carry the weight of a person. Worried about more surveillance? Well maybe you should be – but you’ll likely hear these guys coming.
They are powered by propellers which makes them seem like a much bigger and clumsier version of the recent fuel cell helicopters.
They run on methanol and can climb to 1000 yards at a max of 50 miles per hour. The saucer can only stay in the air for around 40 minutes.
The project sucked down $4.1 million dollars of development money and took 12 years to get it this far. They’ll have to pick up the pace if they’re ever to develop a manned craft like this in our lifetime.
