Bug Trapper: Relocate Spiders From An Arm’s Length Away

For those of you who are a little squeamish about trapping spiders and insects that make their way into the house, comes this great little invention simply called The Bug Trapper. It essentially puts the whole trapping and releasing action at an arms length away and saves you from having to scrounge around for a jar and some cardboard before the critter goes into hiding.

As outlined in the illustration below, using the device is quite a snap. You place the transparent housing over the insect you wish to trap and rotate the handle 180 degrees to close the door. Once outside, you do a reverse 180 to release the bug.

The handle is 16-inches (40.6cm) long and the purpose-built container means no clean-up after catching cockroaches and other nasties (unless you’re obsessive about that kind of thing).

The only problem with the device might be its small size. It is made in England, presumably for British-sized bugs and doesn’t look like it would handle the giant spiders for which countries like Australia are renowned. Also, if you’re particularly squeamish, you might want to attach it to a painter’s extension pole to carry out the task from across the room.

Still, a great little device at a great little price…$7.95 at Lee Valley.
