We’ve seen vibrating alarm rings and even vibrating clocks that go under your pillow, but never anything quite like this. Designed by a Japanese company called Vessel, the “Vibe” Vibrating Alarm Clock Pillow is an ingenious device that wakes you from sleep with gentle pulses, instead of jolting you into consciousness with a screeching audible alarm.
If you’re really dead or want to make extra sure you wake up in time for a meeting, you can also opt for a vibration and audible alarm combo setting. It looks easy enough to set, with a small control panel and LCD display embedded in one side of the pillow and uses six AA batteries to power the whole operation.
It’s a rather simple device, but could provide much relief for couples who wake at different times or even for the hearing impaired. It seems like a fairly standard size at 495mm (19.5″) x 310mm (12.2″) x 90mm (3.5″) and looks to be Japan-only at this stage, but it can be purchased over at Amazon.co.jp for ¥5000 ($55).
