Canon yesterday announced their latest G-series digital camera called the PowerShot G11, which includes a 10-megapixel sensor, RAW + JPEG shooting, a 2.8-inch vari-angle articulating LCD and a 28mm wide-angle 5x optical zoom lens.
This professional-level pocket-cam is designed for those seeking SLR functionality in a smaller form-factor, making it a good step-up option for enthusiastic amateurs, as well as an ultra-portable backup camera for pros. Despite its relatively small size, the G11 provides a traditional optical viewfinder, a hot shoe for your own flashes and lets you shoot uncompressed RAW image files – all features you’d expect from a much larger and costlier DSLR.
With HDMI output and an accessory line-up including Speedlite flashes, underwater housing and a tele-converter lens – the Canon PowerShot G11 is available now on pre-order from Amazon.com for $499.95. Shipping is scheduled to commence in October.
