Just when tendonitis seemed undefeatable, a new keyboard has been created to accessorize our ergonomic chairs, pens, and coffee mugs…
Smartfish have released a truly beautiful device called the ErgoMotion Keyboard, which is designed to prevent Repetitive Stress Injury, or RSI. It does this by monitoring your typing frequency and making subtle adjustments to keep your fingers, hands and wrists from being locked in a fixed position – which is apparently the real cause of RSI.
Designed in collaboration with leading Orthopedics specialists at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York, the ErgoMotion is powered over USB and features a patented motion system that studies your typing frequency – subtly changing its shape to alter your hand and wrist position while you work.
Yes, we all love our computers and would love to spend hours typing happily away at our personal blogs and Facebook statuses, but would it not be healthier to simply take a break every few hours? Honestly, though, if I had enough to spare, this would be on top of my upgrades list. Since the keyboard is almost constantly adjusting, your wrists never lock up – so you can theoretically never abandon your computer. Your eyes might want a break, however. $149.00 at Amazon.com.
